Student Care and Assistance

Student Care and Assistance supports University of Iowa undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in crisis and emergency situations, such as hospitalization, medical emergencies, mental health concerns, chronic conditions, family deaths, natural disasters, off-campus living issues, and unexpected events. As a central campus resource, SCA collaborates with campus partners to provide coordinated efforts that help students overcome challenges and succeed on their path towards graduation.

Student Health

Student Health provides registered students with services that are comparable to what one would receive from their hometown healthcare provider, with added expertise in the care of college students. Student Health is staffed with board-certified MDs who specialize in family medicine, gynecology, and psychiatry, as well as certified physician assistants who provide additional support.

Student Wellness

Student Wellness provides a range of services to support students' physical and mental well-being. These services include appointments, group workshops, and events that focus on topics such as nutrition, fitness, stress management, alcohol and drug awareness, tobacco and e-cigarette use, sexual health, and sleep. By offering these essential resources, Student Wellness works to ensure the health and success of our student population.

Basic Needs

Basic Needs is a set of resources for students to support students during times of need. Our site serves as a directory of campus and community resources that address essential needs, including food insecurity, child care, mental health, and health and wellness. By offering these resources, we strive to promote student well-being and academic success.

University Counseling Service

University Counseling Service (UCS) supports the Division of Student Life mission for student success by providing mental health services and support to University of Iowa students. The service boasts an inter-disciplinary multicultural team of psychologists, social workers, graduate interns, practicum students, and administrative professionals. The training and interests of the team span a broad range of counseling approaches, with a focus on the unique challenges that college students experience.
